Translator
John Wesley (1739–unknown) was an English hymn translator and Methodist contributor to Christian hymnody. Working within the Methodist tradition established by his father Charles Wesley and uncle John Wesley, he participated in the translation and adaptation of hymnic texts during the late eighteenth century. Though biographical details remain sparse, his role as a translator reflects the Wesley family's broader commitment to making sacred music accessible to Methodist congregations. His work formed part of the rich hymnological legacy of early Methodism, which emphasized vernacular religious expression and congregational singing.
