Charles William Everest

Charles William Everest (1814-1877) was an American Congregational minister and hymn writer who made significant contributions to nineteenth-century American Protestant hymnody. Based in Connecticut, he produced numerous original hymns characterized by their theological depth, poetic clarity, and accessibility to congregational singers. Everest's works were widely adopted in Congregational and other Protestant denominational hymnals of his era. His hymns reflected the evangelical piety and doctrinal precision valued by American Congregationalism during the antebellum and post-Civil War periods.
