Daniel Crane Roberts (1841-1907) was an American Episcopal clergyman and hymnodist who made significant contributions to Christian hymnody during the 19th century. Serving parishes in Vermont and Massachusetts throughout his clerical career, Roberts composed both hymn texts and musical tunes that reflected the Anglo-Catholic tradition of the Episcopal Church. He is best known for composing the hymn "God of Our Fathers," which became widely used in American Protestant worship and remains a staple of Episcopal hymnals. Roberts' work exemplified the Victorian-era revival of congregational hymnody and helped enrich the musical and liturgical life of American Anglicanism during his lifetime.
