Edgar Page Stites (1836-1921) was an American hymn writer and clergyman who made significant contributions to Methodist and holiness movement hymnody. He authored numerous hymns that emphasized personal faith commitment, assurance, and the believer's relationship with Christ, reflecting the evangelical piety of the late 19th century. Stites's hymns were widely adopted in Methodist churches and holiness camp meetings, where they reinforced doctrines of sanctification and Christian experience.
