Flor Peeters

Flor Peeters (1903-1986) was a Belgian organist and composer who made significant contributions to Roman Catholic church music in the 20th century. He served as organist at St. Bavo's Cathedral in Ghent and later as professor at the Leuven University, where he influenced generations of church musicians. Peeters composed numerous organ works, masses, and liturgical pieces that combined traditional Catholic liturgical practice with modern compositional techniques. His compositions are characterized by accessibility and spiritual depth, making them widely performed in Catholic churches throughout Europe. He is remembered as a major figure in preserving and developing the Belgian tradition of organ music for the church.
