Folliot Sandford Pierpoint (1835–1917) was an English clergyman and hymnodist of the Church of England who made significant contributions to Victorian hymnody. Though he authored numerous hymns throughout his lifetime, he is best remembered for composing 'For the Beauty of the Earth' (1864), one of the most enduring and widely-sung hymns in Christian worship. His hymn, originally titled 'The Gift of Every Good and Perfect Gift,' reflects the aesthetic and theological sensibilities of the High Church movement and emphasizes gratitude for creation and divine blessings.
