Henry Alford (1810-1871) was a prominent English clergyman and theologian who served as Dean of Canterbury from 1857 until his death. A prolific hymn writer and scholar of the Anglican tradition, Alford authored numerous devotional hymns that reflected his deep theological learning and pastoral sensitivity. He is best known for hymns such as "Come, Ye Thankful People, Come" and "Ten Thousand Times Ten Thousand," which remain widely sung in Protestant churches today.
