John Chandler (1806-1876) was an English Anglican clergyman and accomplished hymn translator who made significant contributions to Christian hymnody through his translations of Latin office hymns into English verse. Working within the Western Christian liturgical tradition, Chandler specialized in converting medieval and patristic Latin hymns into accessible English poetry, thereby enriching the hymnological resources of the Church of England.
