Martin H. Franzmann (1907-1976) was a Lutheran theologian and professor at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis who became one of the most significant American Lutheran hymn writers of the twentieth century. He authored and translated numerous hymns that reflected Lutheran theological depth while maintaining accessibility for congregational worship. Franzmann's hymn texts are characterized by theological precision, poetic quality, and pastoral sensitivity, earning him recognition as a major contributor to modern Lutheran hymnody. His works have been widely adopted in Lutheran hymnals and continue to be sung in churches across North America and beyond.
