Seth Bingham

Seth Bingham (1882-1972) was an American composer and organist who made significant contributions to twentieth-century church music and hymnody. Trained at Yale University and in Europe, he served as organist at Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City for many decades, establishing himself as a prominent figure in American Protestant church music. Bingham composed numerous anthems, organ works, and hymn tunes that reflected both traditional liturgical sensibilities and modern compositional techniques. His works were widely performed in Presbyterian and other mainline Protestant churches, and he helped shape the musical standards of American church music during the mid-twentieth century. His compositions remain part of the standard repertoire in American churches and concert halls.
