Thomas R. Taylor was a 19th-century English hymn writer whose brief life was dedicated to Christian poetry and worship. Active during the early 1800s, Taylor contributed to the rich tradition of English hymnody at a time of significant religious revival and hymn composition. Though he died at the young age of 28 in 1835, his hymns reflected deep theological conviction and poetic sensitivity to matters of Christian faith and devotion. His works were part of the broader Anglican and evangelical hymnic tradition of his era.
