Tom Colvin (1925-2000) was a Scottish missionary, hymn writer, and church musician who served as a Presbyterian minister in Kenya and Ghana during the mid-20th century. He was renowned for his innovative approach to African hymnody, adapting indigenous African melodies and incorporating them into Christian worship, thereby creating a bridge between Western ecclesiastical traditions and African musical expression. Colvin composed and arranged numerous hymns that reflected the spiritual lives and cultural contexts of African congregations, most notably working with traditional African tunes to create singable, meaningful worship music.
