Christoph Cornelius

Christoph Cornelius (1647-1709) was a German Lutheran pastor and hymn writer who contributed to the devotional life of 17th-century Protestant churches. He served in various pastoral roles throughout his career, where he composed several hymns that reflected themes of domestic piety and personal faith in the Lutheran tradition. His works exemplified the introspective, intimate approach to congregational singing that characterized German Lutheran hymnody during the late Baroque period.
