Thomas Ken (1637–1711) was an English clergyman, poet, and hymnodist whose contributions to Christian worship remain influential in Anglican tradition. As Bishop of Bath and Wells and a court chaplain, Ken composed numerous hymns including the beloved morning hymn 'Awake, My Soul, and with the Sun' and evening hymn 'Glory to Thee, My God, This Night,' demonstrating exceptional poetic skill and theological depth. His hymns, characterized by clear language and singable melodies, were designed for congregational use and personal devotion, reflecting the practical spirituality of the Restoration church.
