Lutheran reading notes
In Exodus chapter 27, the story continues to develop the theme of Israel’s deliverance from Egypt and the covenant at Sinai. Lutheran interpretation often highlights how the events reveal humanity’s need for God’s grace and the reliability of God's promises. The chapter illustrates both the reality of human weakness and the faithfulness of God who works through history.

And thou shalt make an altar {of} shittim wood, five cubits long, and five cubits broad; the altar shall be foursquare: and the height thereof {shall be} three cubits.
