Lutheran reading notes
In Exodus chapter 38, the story continues to develop the theme of Israel’s deliverance from Egypt and the covenant at Sinai. Lutheran interpretation often highlights how the events reveal humanity’s need for God’s grace and the reliability of God's promises. The chapter illustrates both the reality of human weakness and the faithfulness of God who works through history.

And he made the altar of burnt offering {of} shittim wood: five cubits {was} the length thereof, and five cubits the breadth thereof; {it was} foursquare; and three cubits the height thereof.
